The city of Pico Rivera traces its origins to the 1870s when the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe and Union Pacific railroads completed rail lines through the area. Farmers established extensive walnut, avocado, and citrus groves in the fertile land between two rivers, and two distinct communities called Pico and Rivera grew slowly as agricultural towns through the early 1900s.

After World War II, housing demand prompted rapid development. During the 1950s, farmland converted to residential subdivisions, schools, churches, and commercial facilities. In 1958, residents voted to incorporate: on January 7, 1958, 56 percent of voters favored merging the two communities into one municipality, establishing Pico Rivera as the 61st city in Los Angeles County.

Whether families are rooted in Pico Rivera for one generation or many, they share common concerns about the people who depend on them. A term life policy sized to a mortgage, children at home, or a business loan is how those concerns become concrete protection.
