No-exam life insurance

Which applicants qualify for fast-tracked underwriting, how the process works, and what you should expect if you don't qualify.

Many companies now offer rapid underwriting: for applicants who meet age and coverage limits, they reach a decision based on your application, available health records, driving history and other databases instead of ordering a medical exam. Approvals can come back within hours or a day. This site's quotes will specify for each product whether an exam is required, might be required, or is not required.

What it changes

No exam does not mean skipping the underwriting review. Your statements will be cross-checked, and if you supplied false information, the policy can be contested within the first two years. If the carrier's records raise red flags, they might still request an exam or blood tests—and you can decide at that moment whether to proceed.

Who tends to qualify

You're typically eligible if you're under about sixty, applying for coverage within a carrier's accelerated limit, have no serious health problems, and haven't used tobacco in a year or longer. Some carriers will substitute results from a recent doctor's exam if you have recent labs.

If an exam is required, the paramedical examiner usually comes to your home or workplace in the Pico Rivera area. The visit lasts about twenty to thirty minutes and costs you nothing. Healthy applicants sometimes get better rate classes after an exam, so having one done isn't always bad news.
