The city's name reflects its heritage. Pico is named after Pío de Jesús Pico, who served as California's last Mexican governor before the state became part of the United States. Rivera, the Spanish word for riverbank, names the second founding community. Today, Pico Rivera is home to nearly 58,000 residents, of whom 91.2 percent identify as Hispanic or Latino, with a median household income of $88,201.

The city celebrates its cultural identity through public institutions and annual events. The Pico Rivera Sports Arena hosts traditional Mexican rodeos honoring regional horsemanship and ranch culture. Each year, the HOLA Mexico Film Festival brings Mexican cinema to the city—the largest festival of its kind outside Mexico itself.

This cultural continuity matters to families who share history across generations and neighborhoods. Planning for those families means understanding what gives them stability and security, which is precisely what term life insurance is designed to do.
